They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" 85 If We willed, We could take away that We have revealed to thee, then thou wouldst find none thereover to guard thee against Us, 86 except for Mercy from your Lord; for His favor to you is great indeed. 87 Say, "If all men and jinn gathered together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce one like it, however much they helped one another." 88 And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! 89 They declare, "We will never believe in you until you cause a spring to flow for us from the earth; 90 "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly; 91 Or thou causest the heaven to fall upon us, as thou assertest, in pieces, or thou bringest God and the angels face to face. 92 "Or you have a house of adornable materials (like silver and pure gold, etc.), or you ascend up into the sky, and even then we will put no faith in your ascension until you bring down for us a Book that we would read." Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Glorified (and Exalted) be my Lord (Allah) above all that evil they (polytheists) associate with Him! Am I anything but a man, sent as a Messenger?" 93
