And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
