Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 no caring friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
