The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
