The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
