Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha Mim! 1 [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working." 5 Say (Prophet Muhammad): 'I am only a human like you, to whom it is revealed that your God is One God. Therefore be straight with Him and ask Him to forgive you. Woe to the idolaters, 6 Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
