Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
