a good many of olden times, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
