The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
