And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 Do they wish Us then to hasten the punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, - 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
