The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
