Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 storming tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 separating one from another, 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 excusing or warning, 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 Then the stars will lose their light. 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 What do you know what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 till a known term decreed? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 and yellow camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
