▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the Moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
