Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
