He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
