The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
