The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
