Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
