The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
