Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
