The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
