The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
