The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys. 80 And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 So the scream overcame them at morning. 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator and knows (everything). 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Do not even cast your eyes towards the worldly goods We have granted to different kinds of people, nor grieve over the state they are in, but turn your loving attention to the believers instead, 88 And say thou: verily I! I am a plain warner. 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 for whatever they have done! 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Surely We suffice to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say. 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain. 99
