Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
