The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 scorching the flesh; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
