[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave ye your spouses your Lord hath created for you? Aye! ye are a people trespassing. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
