The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
