The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
