And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
