The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
