Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
