The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
