And We sent no Prophet unto any town (and they denied him), but We seized its people with suffering from extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss of health and calamities, so that they might humiliate themselves (and repent to Allah). 94 Then We changed adversity into ease until they throve and said: 'Our forefathers had also seen both adversity and prosperity.' So We suddenly seized them without their even perceiving it. 95 And if the people of the townships had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them blessings from the sky and from the earth. But (unto every messenger) they gave the lie, and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn. 96 Do the people of the cities feel secure Our might shall not come upon them at night while they are sleeping? 97 Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)? 98 Do they feel secure against the design of Allah None can feel secure against the design of Allah except the utter losers. 99
