Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 and the smooth runners 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
