The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
