He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
