He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
