The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
