The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
