And indeed this Qur’an has been sent down by the Lord Of The Creation. 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
