And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
