And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
