Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
