Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
