Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
