The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
