Evil has spread over the land and the sea because of human deeds and through these God will cause some people to suffer so that perhaps they will return to Him. 41 (Muhammad), tell them, "Travel through the land to see how terrible was the end of those who lived before. Many of them were pagans. 42 Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. 43 Whoever disbelieves, then the calamity of his disbelief is only on him; and those who do good deeds, are preparing for themselves. 44 In order to reward those who believed and did good deeds, by His munificence; indeed He does not like the disbelievers. 45 for among His wonders is this: He sends forth [His messages as He sends forth] the winds that bear glad tidings, so that He might give you a taste of His grace [through life-giving rains,] and that ships might sail at His behest, and that you might go about in quest of some of His bounties, and that you might have cause to be grateful. 46 Before you We sent other Messengers to their people; and they came with clear signs. We took revenge upon the sinners, and it was an incumbent duty upon Us to give victory to the believers. 47 God is He that looses the winds, that stir up clouds; and He spreads them in heaven how He will, and shatters them; then thou seest the rain issuing out of the midst of them, and when He smites with it whomsoever of His servants He will, lo, they rejoice, 48 though before its coming they had despaired. 49 Look then at the effects of Allah's mercy: what wise He quickeneth the earth after the death thereof. Verily, He is the Quickener of the dead, and He is over everything Potent. 50 But if We should send a [bad] wind and they saw [their crops] turned yellow, they would remain thereafter disbelievers. 51 So verily thou canst not make the dead hear, nor canst thou make the deaf hear the call when they turn away in flight. 52 Nor canst thou guide the blind out of their error. Thou canst make none to hear save those who believe in Our revelations so that they surrender (unto Him). 53
