The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He looked (at others); 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
