Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
