The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 This is Allah's promise and He does not go back on His promise. But most people do not know. 6 They only know the superficial realities of the worldly life and they are unaware of the life to come. 7 Do they not reflect on themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth and whatever lies between them in Truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny that they will meet their Lord. 8 What, have they not journeyed in the land and beheld how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than themselves in might, and they ploughed up the earth and cultivated it more than they themselves have cultivated it; and their Messengers came to them with the clear signs; and God would never wrong them, but themselves they wronged. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of God, and they derided them. 10
